- Clean bird droppings off car windows as soon as it happens
- Allow the bird droppings to dry before removing.
So, lets take a look at each option and the best ways to deal with each case.
Soon as it happens....
If you are fortunate enough to see the bird wastes hitting the car windshield or car surfaces then the best approach is to:
- Use some hot water or warm water in a spray bottle
- Spray the area liberally and allow some time for the clean water to weaken the bird doo-doo
- Take a paper towel and remove the largest of the deposits from the car's window or car exterior
- Next use a good microfiber cloth with some cleaning solution on it cleanse the stained area. A solution of water and a small amount of household bleach (about 1 tablespoon per gallon of water) can be used for this purpose.

Removing dry bird droppings
If you are trying to remove dried bird droppings (Which is the usual case) then you have to take different approach and it can be hard work, but here are a few options for you.
Seltzer Water
Believe it of not this is a really effective way to remove nasty stains caused by bird crap!
Seltzer water's carbonation can help to break down and lift the dried droppings, making them a lot easier to remove.
However, if the droppings have been on the surface for a long time, it may take more than one application of seltzer water to fully remove them.
In such cases, it may be helpful to use a combination of seltzer water and a gentle cleaning solution.
The solution could be the one we informed you of earlier.
This method can be really effective if used when the bird droppings have been dried on in direct sunlight. It is also effective on a vehicles paint and the car's clear coat.

Ceramic Coating
Some of you may or may not be aware of this latest type of car protection?
It can be really effective when removing bird waste products as it provides a really hard shell onto of the car's paint and makes it virtually impossible for the acidic bird waster to eat into the car's paint job.
This cutting edge protective film usually has to be applied by a professional detailer for the best results. But I can assure you you will have a rock had shell protecting your cars paint and will give you a quick solution to removing bird poop!
It is however quite an expensive initial outlay but you would have a car that would only take a couple of minutes to car wash down and remove bird doo doo with a wet cloth for the next few years.

Car Detailer
A quick detailer spray can be a really effective way to remove and prevent bird poop damage of the paint surface.
First step would be to liberally spray the window or offending area of car body with the detailing spray and allow it to remain on the surface.
This will help reduce the high uric acid levels of the droppings and make the wipe away with a clean cloth.

Homemade Bird Poop Remover
You can make you own homemade bird poop remover by using as simple kitchen ingredient called baking soda. Here is how to do it.
- Add some warm water to a jug
- Mix in 3-4 table spoons of baking soda
- Stir the mixture well until the baking soda is completely dissolved
- Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and give a final shake
- Spray the mixture on to the different bird poop stains
- Allow five minutes for the mixture to work then wipe off with microfiber towel
This work particularly well as the baking soda mixture is an alkaline solution and really weakens and dissolves the acidic bird droppings.
You can also add some unscented laundry detergent to the mixture as this really can give the final boost to clear the surface.

Window Cleaner
Normal household window cleaner can be used. This is more effective on fresh bird droppings than it is on dried on stains.
It works pretty much like the car detailer spray in that it is a quite alkaline solution and therefore neutralises the acid bird poop.
Same application is needed but usually the window cleaner or glass spray will take a few applications and a few circular motions with a microfiber cloth to remove the whole of the offending deposits!
WD40

This may seem a rather unusual thing to use but it really can work well if other methods fail to remove the bird droppings from car paint or the windows.
WD40 is a lubricating oil designed to lightly oil moving parts, such as bicycle chains. But as many of you will know it is super as dissolving rust if you have a stubborn rusty nut to remove.
This unique liquid can literally erode the rust away and free up the nut.
It will do exactly that to dried on bird droppings too!
Spray it on and as with our previous methods allow time for it to react with the deposits. Then wipe away with a clean microfiber cloth and reapply another coat is the best bet if required.
This also works well and its often the right way to remove tree sap and stubborn water spots if hard water is used to wash your car exteriors
Can bird droppings damage car paint?

Good idea is to add a protective layer over your paint.
You paint already has a "Clear Coat" on top of it from when it was painted on the production line.
But it is not a bad idea to always have you car's exterior protected with a layer of wax or ceramic coating
This will provide a hard shell like protection to guard against and paint damage from bird droppings.
