The dark colouring in the product really does the job of melting away those finer imperfections. It works particularly well if you car has a white primer undercoat.

However, if time is against you this may not be your ideal as the two stage process can take a while, but we assure you it is worth the time!

Also if you require instructions to clean, polish and wax your car, beware as sometimes the instructions are in every language except English!

Overall guys this a great product that really gets the deep shine results we all adore. This is achieved through a stages process though, so ensure you have the time but we can assure the result is worth waiting for! And the price is super value.

3.  Car Guys Hybrid Wax

Whilst this initial list was supposed to be “Polishes” to keep in line with our Plan we just had to include this!

As you can see it is not wholly a polish, but more of a polish/wax sealant. So while our previous featured kit can take a while to complete the process this actually speeds it up!

 If time is of the essence then this is your go to solution!

With the speed of application comes doubts of durability?

But rest assured whilst the process is quick and the results are long lasting with a showroom finish being reported as staying for months.

Pricewise it comes in on the heavy side but the high gloss end result with good durability we feel can justify the price.

Don’t Touch it!

Black cars are different!

They need “Hands Off” attention, by this we mean you need to complete the initial cleaning stage before polishing with as little hand to panel contact as possible.

The reason being if there is any minute particle of grit or dirt under the microfiber the chances of a scratch are vastly increased on a black car.

Soak it first

The whole process must start with a complete soaking of the vehicle. This can be with a hose of better still a foam cannon.

The weight of the foam running off combined with its grim releasing properties ensure and high percentage of the grit and grim are removed without any hand to car contact

Once the foam has had its grit busting time on the surface (Approx 10 mins) then it should be hosed off.

That is two stages completed with not one of your grubby maulers touching the sacred, black paint work!

Now you should be standing in front of a black, shiny, soaking wet vehicle scratching your head thinking how am I going to dry this car without touching it?

Well make your way to the garden shed and hunt out that “Leaf Blower” you bought but never used!

If you don’t have a leaf blower then your going to have to be very gentle with a microfiber cloth.

I have a super microfiber towel that I can literally dry my car in minutes. Turning and shaking it frequently to ensure no grit comes in contact with the sleek surface.

Final prep before polishing and waxing a black car

Once reaching this stage you then have an option to Clay Bar the car if you want to remove every slightest granular dust and smear from the surface.

It can take a while but the process is really worth it.

1.  Meguiars Black Wax

If its a deep, wet look finish your after then this has to be one of the first to consider.

Most detailers will mention Meguiars in their first breath if you ask what the best deep shine producing wax.

An easy on application but with what some comment a good while to dry to a haze, some even quote as leaving it one hour to cure!

We tend to think this is on the longer side but we would suggest a trial on a small section first to find the optimal curing time.

If your car is suffering from any  chips or scratches and you are hoping for a cure then this may not be the best option as it tends not to fill in the deep grooves.

But on the plus side, you do not have to worry about getting on any black plastic trim as it is easily removed without leaving any white residue.

One word of warning on storage, this wax is supplied in a “Toothpaste” style container and if you store it on its side or on its cap the possibility of it leaking is high.

Also it can be difficult to judge the amount of wax that is going to be squeezed out, again due to the toothpaste tube design.

2. Sonax Polish and Wax Black

Sonax is fast becoming a World leader in car care products and here we have their leading black car polish and wax product.

Specially designed for black cars the wax is ready for application in a black colour and unlike our previously reviewed wax this one really does hide those unsightly scratches. 

We can vouch o for the easy on easy off application when we tested it on a dark grey vehicle.

We found the ultimate curing time was around 8-10 minutes, any longer proved not so much difficult but more timely.

If buffed off a the proposed time it takes around forty minutes to complete a whole car. Our test car also had a metallic fleck in the paint and this really was enhanced with this product.

The product is supplied with a black touch up pen included but we like other detailers found that is wasn’t as good as expected and found simply using the polish/wax amply and correctly was the best way to eliminate any scratches.

Overall,l this would be the polish/wax to hide any scratches or swirls on a black or dark coloured car. Also we can recommend this for use on any dark metallic paintwork. 

3. Poorboy's World PB-NPBLK08 Natty's Carnuaba Paste Wax-Black

This high shine Carnuaba Wax is designed for nothing else but black cars and the results show!

You not only get a super deep, wet look shine but it also gives a super beading effect.

With each jar touted at completing over 20 full covering of a standard car. This offers tremendous value!

It appears the best results are achieved when applied after Poorboys Black Hole polish.

Durability seems good too along with many singing its praises of the deep gloss effect it has on black wheel rims.

Overall a great product at a  reasonable price that will give you a superb shine time and time again. Definitely worth a coating on any black car.

4.  Poorboys Black Hole Show Glaze

With this product being mentioned as a superb compliment to the above wax we thought we should include it in the list, especially for those wanting that deepest of dark wet look finishes.

5. Dodo Juice Black Widow Hybrid Paste Wax

This little 100ml can of dark beauty is based on Dodo Juice “Supernatural Hybrid recipe” and is promoted by them as “technically superior” to their other products of Purple Haze and Blue Velvet. 

They have again made great use of the darker Montan wax to give the desired black car qualities. Interestingly this ingredient is obtained by solvent extraction of types of lignite or brown coal. Which are only available from a few locations Germany and California.

This is generally described as a “Hard Wax” but is reported to go on easy but can take a little elbow grease to get off if applied to thick or left too long to cure.

However, the extra calories burned are well worth the effort as the shine is described as second to none.

Dodo Juice give the durability at around 4-5 months. which seems above average for a high gloss wax but we cannot find actual users stating their opinions on durability.

Dodo say to expect extreme sheeting and beating when the water hits the surface coated with this product along with super metallic flake pop and a shine of oceanic depth!

If your wanting to fix scratches and swirls on your black car with this wax then you best choose another as it has no abrasive qualities.

This it is wax/sealant, any paint correction should have been done before applying this wonderful high gloss protector.
